Vocabulary Builder

I love sites and software that build up some skill. I found this vocabulary software site that allows you to improve your vocabulary. It offers vocabulary builder software. You can download a free trial of their progam. A single license costs $39.95. There are also some online vocabulary tests. The different categories of test include SAT Vocabulary, TOEFL Vocabulary, GRE Vocabulary, GMAT Vocabulary and VOA Special English. This could be a great way to practice for one of these standardized tests. I found the sample SAT questions very easy. The GRE vocabulary was a bit harder but I still got all ten correct. Still, it's fun to test your vocabulary and expand your knowledge. I would recommend anyone to go and check it out. You can never know too many words!

Personal Finance

With the economy is such turmoil, everyone needs to have information about their finances. I've become addicted to CNBC. On the web, I recently visited this personal finance blog. It has a lot of information about a number of everyday financial concerns. The categories of posts include banking, college, credit and credit cards, identity theft, insurance, investing, mortgages, real estate, saving money and tax preparation. It's a nice place to get some basic information. Often I feel swamped with financial data and advice coming from every direction. This site is well organized into these categories and provides basic, clear information about each topic. There are links to additional posts with information about related items. Although things in the economy appear to have stabilized recently, I have a feeling we are still in for a bumpy ride. There is so much debt, both public and private, in the economy, I think it will be hard to get the economy growing again. Everyone needs as much information as possible to survive.

Palin's Resignation

The resignation of Sarah Palin probably makes a lot of sense financially. Apparently she is accruing a lot of legal expenses while not making a lot as governor of Alaska. As a private citizen she is much more free to make a lot of money with book deals, speaking engagements and other enterprises. Remember how much Bill Clinton has made since leaving office. However, it does make me think less of her as a public official. I think someone should try to finish the term of office to which he or she is elected, especially when its the first term. I wish her good luck but it is legitimate to think of her as a quitter.
