Wisconsin vs. Virginia

I was thinking about Virginia's law regarding collective bargaining when I came across this interesting comparison. Virginia does not allow collective bargaining at all by public employees. Apparently the statute that bans it was signed into law by Democratic governor Doug Wilder in 1993. Virginia's state debt as a percentage of income is half that of Wisconsin. My son's teachers don't seem to be particularly bad off or oppressed.

Libya

The news out of Libya is horrifying. Hundreds have been killed according to reports. Hopefully someone can take out Qaddafi. That is probably the only solution. It's unlikely he'll peacefully step down like Mubarak. Too bad we didn't get him in 1986 with our air strikes.
